It may have been they were calling to this years fledgling (it was in a nearby tree), it may have been they were warning off others, or they may have just been greeting the morning sun...whichever, it was an impressive display that lasted for several minutes. Bald Eagle facts: Bald eagles communicate with one another in a variety of ways. They make and respond to a number of different calls. In addition visual displays play an important role in communication. Bald eagles make many distinct sounds ranging from a harsh cry to a low, snickering call. Eagles call to greet a mate or warn off intruders. Young eagles make a peeping or whining call to beg for food from their parents. When eagles gather in the winter they are often quite vocal, especially when they have hunted successfully or stolen another eagles dinner. ~ Bald Eagles, Karen Dudley
