Incoming!

Southern Vancouver Island

It was so cold and windy I'm surprised I could hold the camera still enough to get this shot...didn't seem to bother the duck any, guess all those feathers and down really do keep them warm. A quick trip back to a warm car revived me enough to go back out again and try for a few more shots. American Wigeon facts: American Wigeon are aquatic grazers and forage on grasses and sedges in wet meadows and pastures and its' diet has a higher proportion of plant matter than the diet of any other dabbling duck.

An excellent flight shot! I often wonder how these birds stand the cold ......
