Clark's Nutcracker

Firestone Lake Drive, Yellowstone National Park

The only place we have ever seen this bird is in Yellowstone. It inhabits the high mountain regions of the Western US and Canada and just didn't see any when we visited other high mountain areas. Clark's Nutcracker facts: The Clark's Nutcracker has a special pouch under its tongue that it uses to carry seeds long distances. The nutcracker harvests seeds from pine trees and takes them away to hide them for later use. ~ All About Birds
