Wooden Water Tower

Southern Vancouver Island

A water tower is a storage location for water and until the advent of modern plumbing they were needed to build pressure in water pipes so the water system could flow properly. This old wooden water tower has an elevated tank and operates by gravity to help supply the needed pressure to operate the irrigation system in the fields. Many of these old wooden towers were constructed during the early settlement of North America and some are now considered architectural landmarks and monuments.

I like the balance in this picture. Nice natural tones.
So different from the Dutch brick water towers.
