Caught in the Act

Southern Vancouver Island

Red flowers, trumpet shaped blossoms and hummingbirds are just a natural fit and I wasn't surprised to find this little hummer drinking deeply of the necter from a Crocosmia blossom. Hummingbird facts: Like bees, hummingbirds carry pollen from one plant to another while they are feeding, thus playing an important role in plant pollination. Each bird can visit between 1,000 and 2,000 blossoms every day.

Nice shot -- excellent colour and composition. Amazing that even at 1/2000s, there is still a little blur on the wings, they move so fast.
