It was hard to get this gal to turn around and face into the sun. She was really happy where she was at, so I took the photo of her 'natural stance' and let her have her way. All the elephants at the zoo are females because the males are solitary and there isn't enough room for them to get away by themselves. African elephants are the largest living land mammal, they have bigger fan-like ears and a single hump on their forehead, a sway back and more wrinkled skin than the Asian or Indian elephant.
