Steller's Jay

Vancouver Island, BC

This photo was an exercise in patience. I'd seen a pair of Steller's Jays flying in the area, so I set up my tripod and waited until one returned to this spot. It took awhile, but was well worth the wait. Interesting fact: Steller's Jays form monogamous, long-term pair bonds and they remain together year round.
