Holga Camera Weddings

When I am the one responsible for shooting at a wedding, I shoot with digital cameras- they are fast, precise and have an amazing array of controllable components. With the Holgas, I am free to explore other trains of visual thought and let myself go. For example, you can't really FOCUS a Holga, you can't set the exposure, and you shouldn't really bother looking thru the viewfinder, because what you see isn't what you get. I guess on the focus, grab a camera with a film sensitivity that is appropriate for the lighting, and shoot from the hip all day.

A quick explanation about why the images look the way they do: Holgas are cheap plastic cameras that use medium format film. Each camera has it's own "quirks", such as vignetting and light leaks. I own 6 Holgas- each one gives a different appearance to the negative. For these quick scans, I make adjustments to the negative, and clean up some dust. Please pardon the appearance of some scans- it's hard to get all the dust off.

Feel free to leave comments in the galleries- I am interested in how these images make you feel!
