Snoqualmie Falls

Snoqualmie Falls is a well known tourist attraction in the foothills close to Seattle; it's probably the most popular falls in Washington. The falls is in a developed area, a lodge sits on one bank above the falls and a small power plant sits on the other bank. I'm not sure how the power plant has changed the waterflow, although presumably some of the water is diverted or held. However, I visited in late January 2005 after a period of heavy rainfall so Snoqualmie Falls was at higher than normal flow. Because it was flood level type flows at the time I visited you can see what I think is an ugly brownish tint to the water. Due to that I decided to desaturate some of these photos and just go with the black and white. There are some color as well so the two can be compared. Lighting was late afternoon and near dusk which had some impact on the contrast that you see here. The pictures:
