Okanogan N.F. - North Twentymile Peak

This was another mid-October 2005 hike to an Okanogan area lookout. It was cloudy out but reasonable temps with a foot or less of snow above 6000 feet giving notice that winter is on the way. North Twentymile lies just East of the Pasayten Wilderness by Tiffany and the Chewuch River. It is fairly unique as lookout sites go as it has two lookouts which are both still standing. One is a typical post-WWII lookout in seemingly good shape. The other is one of if not the oldest lookouts still left in Washington as it dates from around WWI. It is also very unusual in that it is a cupola style lookout which was as early style used before the R-4/R-6 template lookouts became popular during the mid-30s. The photos:
