These were some photos taken in October of 2002 during a fall foliage trip along the Cascade Loop. Fall color is a bit different in the Cascades than the traditional type that people have of the turning of the seasons in New England and the Midwest. With many more conifers, most of whom do not turn, the colors are in some ways less impressive in terms of trees and leaves. However the ground vegetation is much more colorful as the heather turns red. These were some of the colors that I saw:
