Makah Nation - Cape Flattery

This was a little nature trail that I did on my visit to Shi Shi Beach in late February 2005. Cape Flattery is the NW point of the contiguous 48 states located on the Makah Indian Reservation. The trail goes through a little bit of forest down to some overlooks on bluffs above the ocean. The land is marked by heavy erosion of the sandstone by the Pacific Ocean with little coves and caves forming as a result. In the distance is Tatoosh Island which is home to a lighthouse that is still active. This is a good area for wildlife sightings as well although the only thing that I got a semi-decent picture of was a little otter. The photos:
