The Book

These are photos scanned from the book "On The Road To Janaidar", which I published in 1990. The scans are imperfect; many of them show the imperfections of scanning from a publication. Original photos were mostly taken with a Pentax 645 medium format camera up to base camp; on the mountain itself I used my trusty Pentax LX, one of the best mechanical/electronic cameras around. Hey, this was in 1987. And I still use the LX, when I'm doing analog photography.

I am learning climbing in the Cascades. One of my dream is going back to China to climb in Karakunlun and Himalaya. Your pictures inspired me. Thanks!

I am very excited to see your wonderful gallery! The images of the mountains attract me the most. You must have had a great adventure and all your hard labour of getting there must have been worthwhile. In many of the images you are above the clouds. Upon seeing them I feel that the world was truly meant to be a place without borders.

I have recently scanned some of my images directly from negatives that have generated some reasonable results that you will see on my Hunza and Spain galleries. My photos are not nearly as fascinating as some of yours. I voted for this gallery and for many individualy images.
