Balloon Ride 4/24/2002

First hot air balloon ride. Lift off was near UMass campus, over the Conneticut River and landing in Hatfield, MA. Terrific weather and ride. Very smooth sailing although landing was a bit bumpy with basket being dragged by a late wind gust.

At one point we dropped a teddy bear on a parachute to some kids on the ground.

The colorful baloon in most of the photos was another balloon that went up with us, piloted by a young lady making her first solo flight. She did a fine job and provided us with some great photo opportunities.

This balloon lifted off with us and was piloted by a young lady on her first solo flight. Looking down on crew getting ready for chase. Lift off was very smooth. Balloon/Umass. White spot is moon.

Hi, Mary & Ed: At least your camera worked!!!! Sounds like you had a great trip - there is nothing like it. Hope you are recovering from your landing. Like they say its not the flight that will get you - it is the landing!! I hope that it was worth all that you had to go through for you Ed. The pictures are GREAT!!!!

Really nice pictures Ed. It must have been unbelievable being up that high and seeing all those sights below you. I don't think I could go up in a ballon like that. I know my bladder would give out on me for sure!
