At the turn of the century, the homes in Allegheny West were the estates of some of Pittsburgh's most prestigious families. The meticulously restored structures now represent a mix of single family homes and apartments, condominiums, and office buildings. Beech Street is known as Pittsburgh's best street. It includes homes familiar to notables including Gertrude Stein and mystery writer Mary Roberts-Reinhardt. The neighborhoods commercial district, Western Avenue is home to many enticing shops and restaurants. This neighborhood is also home to the Community College of Allegheny County.
Allegheny West is more than Beech Avenue. Although I enjoyed the pictures, is Keystone Plumbing (which the City lists as Central Northside) the best Brighton Road picture that you could come up with? My neighbors on West North, Galveston, and N. Lincoln were also left out.
