I was born and raised in jos. We used to admire Hillcrest so much especially during their sports competitions. Jos is indeed a beautiful place with so much foreigners, good and hospitable natives, very good wheather with so much attractive scenic beauty. I've been to almost every part of Nigeria, but i cant escape the beauty of staying in Jos. I love it here than any part of Nigeria.

To Danny (MR.Legg)I saw your post and my heart jumped a beat.I attended the school from 81-82.I knew him as "Johnny" john high.John high,Jay Tolar myself and others were on the same dormatory at the schools hostel hill crest.For me john was such a character and i guess i used to look up to him as i was a year younger.I remember we used to go upstairs and watch european football on sundays.I was so impressed at the time that johny being a real american but used to live for the english game that he called soccer.Man i am 45 next week and seeing your post makes my day.I have never forgotten my time at the school and have always looked back with very fond memories.Not one single year has ever gone by without myself wondering what john and jay and others are doing now.Perhaps jay is a doctor who knows,he could have followed his father into the profession who treated me at jos when i became very ill with either food poisoning or maleria.Do you remember VICTOR ESUK he used to love and play football he knew johnny also.His father was a nigerian army general.Paul pepper,Beth olamanukwe never forgotten these guys either.If your reading this get in touch.Oh and while your at it i have lost my year book and would love to kow where to get another or even a duplicate.All the best for now hopefully, with fondest memories kind regards mark.

great pictures, i used to live in jos 1978 to 1982 and used to play football after school hours at hillcrest school with guys such as liki, nanim, jon high, sherin, tama and awe just to mention a few for the rebels football team which was formed by hillcrest and non hillcrest students. we called this brand of football transtel, is there any of you guys still around ?

I was looking for a website on jos tourism and came accross yurs. my nane is Neneh and I'm planning to visit Nigeria with my 5yr old son and my husband who is white in July for 2 wks. I come from Eastern Nigeria but have never been to Jos. My husband has been to Logos and Eastern parts but not the North and people have told us to vist Jos. I'm a bit worried about our safety and we would like to visit Jos for a couple of days as we're flying into Abuja. Where is the best place to stay and places to visit? Judging from ur pictures, it looks like a definite must for us and I'm sure my husband will enjoy it.

I attended Hillcrest between 1975 and 1977. I stayed at the Boulder Hill hostel w/ Elvis and BettyLou. I was reading the comments and was feeling bombarded with memories! Very cool website and love the pictures. I especially school breaks at Yankari.

These pictures brought back long forgotten sweet memories, thank you. I was also at Hillcrest High School around this time, I did Grade 11 and 12 there between 1976 and 1977. For a while I lived in the Assemblies of God hostel, wonderfully run by Uncle Dave and Aunt Louise. Such wonderful people, I'll never forget them.

Some of my classmates were Joy Beecham from the Twin cities and Criss Black from Australia. Criss painted a big picture with baobab tree and an elephant for us, my father still keeps it in his bedroom. If anybody has contact with them, or any of this rings a bell, please, let me know!

I also noticed that alot of my friends I lost touch with have found your website. I just can't forget my experiences in Jos. Such a nice beautiful city. I came in there as a corper on national service and I explored all tourist locations. Direct feel of nature at it's best. The climate is perfect. The rocks, magnificient. It was a wonderful experience. I hope to spend my future vacations in Jos to refresh those good old times.

I am from Vom (NVRI) and went to St. Joseph's College. My folks still live there. I left Naija back in 1988 but have been back a handfull of times. These are great pictures, I was born and raised in Jos,and used to "tap" soccer with Awe Esuk, Paul Kato, Jon Kato, Tama, Nanim, John high, "Ziks" and all the other guys. I agree with one of the comments posted. Jos could be a great tourist city, but the priorities of those in charge is only to have a bulging pocket, know what I mean! It's sad. I was in jos in 2005, I can't wait to go back this spring. thanks for sharing your photos.

I went to the American Mission School at Hillcrest, Jos between 1976-1978. I stayed at Boulder Hill. As the others have said, great memories and these are great pictures. I remember going for long weekend trips to Yankari. My parents were missionaries in Tchad. My house parents were BettyLou and Elvis.

Most people know me as charleepee. I went to Hillcrest school. Left in 1987 to attend University of Benin. I, currently, live in Charlotte, North Carolina. I have been there since 1993. These pictures are beautiful. They made me so homesick. I missed nature and the simple way of life. I have travelled extensive throughout Nigeria since my father works with the Nigerian Aviation. I am planning a vacation that will take me back home next year.

His year of birth could be between 1964-66.

I was living there in Woyke House (Don And Ann Goltz).

I got to know him there in 1981.
We wrote each other for several years (see Foto from 1987) after i left Jos.

I lived in Jos (No. 4 Hospital Place--not far from Plateau Hospital and just a KM or two from Hillcrest) from 1977 to Hillcrest graduation in 1987. Remember running the Nigel for 3-4-5 and later in high school 4-6-8. Lol. That's the first time I've thought of those running contests in years. Mr. Bierling used to give us the medals. I'm sure I have mine in some box somewhere. I was rooting around the web in search of some more current photos of Hillcrest and the hostels (Elm House, Boulder Hill, etc.)--just for nostalgia's sake. These were some good photos. :)

I am from Jengre,a small town about 30Km from Jos. I left sometime ago to the states and my children have been asking me about Plateau State. I was elated to stumble on your Pictures. All the places are familiar and was able to give them good naratives. We all had a great time viewing them. It really brought back some nostalgic feelings.I felt I was once again back home. Great pics, some of these are postcard material! Hi, I'm a Nigerian from Delta State (though I was brought up in Lagos). Jos is my favourite place in Nigeria, I used to go there alot when I was younger as my mother is from there. I miss the ideal weather, the strong smell of fresh flowers, the fresh fruits are the best I've ever had, the rocky landscapes are amazing.. there is so much potential to attract tourists. Sad not much is being done about it.

hi, i'm european but i lived in jos and lagos from 2003 to 2005. i went back for a holiday this year, still feel homesick and miss africa very much.

My husband and I lived and worked in Jos from 1979 to 1982. Your pictures brought back many memories. It was an interesting place to live in - there were many challenges, but we enjoyed our time there on the whole.

Nice pictures! They brought back a lot of memories. I was born in Jos and spent my entire childhood in the bukuru/vom area. I left in 1985 and visited bukuru only once after that in 1987. I am hoping that one day I'll be able to visit again and relive an almost magical childhood.

I am an American, married to a Nigerian, living in Jos. It has the potential to become a very attractive place for tourists, It is a shame the locals do not recognize the natural beauty.Jos is a friendly, safe place.

Things have changed. Was in Jos (Bukuru)1956-1968 with amaltinco. Some photos bring back memories.

was nice to see your photos.i visited jos whilst voluntering with VSO(UK) a year ago(2005).i really enjoyed Jos,the temprature was alot more comfortable than akure where i was based.

You have captivated a side never seen on the net about Nigeria. Delta state where i am originally from. I was so overwhelmed by these shots and I am looking forward to my trip next year. The shots are excellent.
