Hale telescope in use

The horizon glows orange in the area northwest of Palomar Mountain, toward Los Angeles. The dome of the Hale 200-inch reflector is open toward the southeast part of the sky during an an observing run by Canadian astronomers Brett Gladman and JJ Kavelaars. This one-minute exposure is with a Nikon D100 digital camera and a Sigma 15-30mm zoon lens set at f/4.
