Messier 35, an open cluster in the constellation Gemini, is a showpiece for smaller telescopes. A larger telescope will reveal the much smaller and dimmer open cluster, NGC 2158. This photo was taken with a Nikon D80 digital camera and a Nikon 500mm f/4 lens and a 1.4x teleconverter. It is a combination of two unguided exposures of three minutes each. The images were layered in Photoshop.
