This is my second gallery of pictures taken at the Shortland Wetland Centre in Newcastle. The majority of work carried out there is done by volunteers. It only costs me $20 a year to go there and wander around for as long as I choose. It is a mere 4.5 kms from home. The only sound at present is the occasional aerolite flying over and the birds on each of the large ponds. The new road which is being constructed on the eastern side of the wetland will open in 2013, so it's anyone's guess as to how much noisier it will be then. It's called progress, but no one consulted the birds or wildlife!
