Recently I decided to write a personal journal. I am a ticketwriter (most would relate to signwriting more easily), silk screen printer and calligrapher by profession. I decided instead of actually writing personal events, I would turn the idea into an illustrated and colourful book. I ordered a beautifully crafted leather cover and artist's journal from a small family company in Santa Rosa, California, US. As the first page of my journal states, "my journal will be different to an artist's journal. Instead of taking it out into the field and sketching ideas in pen and watercolors, I would fill it with experiences, past and present, after they had taken place". It's amazing how we can sit and wonder just where to begin, but our minds eventually gather speed and run away with us... so it's critical to keep a few sheets of paper to jot down ideas. Anyway, I haven't done a great deal as yet, but what I have I would like to share with you. I began in July and it's now September 2013.
