Kangaroo Island

Kangaroo Island is a 45 minute ferry ride from Cape Jervis, South Australia. It is 155km long and some 4,400 folk live there. Most of them are primary producers, many of them descended from Islanders who have farmed the land and fished the seas for generations. KI is a pristine wilderness - a place that offers protection to substantial populations of native Australian animals, a place of beauty and a place of escape. Towns like Kingscote, Penneshaw, Parndana and American River are places of relaxation and indulgence, for the locals and visitors. KI produces some of Australia's finest gourmet foods. Freshly caught King George whiting, sheep's cheese, marron (crayfish), a unique variety of honey and a range of varietal wines. If you traverse the length of the island you'll find soaring cliffs, dense forest, towering sand dunes, wetlands and massive arcs of bone white beach. If you're planning on visiting Australia, Kangaroo Island should be on your list!
