The Good Samaritan Donkey Sanctuary is a non-profit charity devoted to the welfare of donkeys, by rescuing and caring for the abused and unwanted ones. It is Australia's original refuge and has over 37 years experience. The sanctuary provides 'seven-day' care and has saved many hundreds of these endearingly gentle animals from appalling conditions. The sanctuary receives no government support and relies entirely on public and personal donations. The sanctuary covers 300 acres and has around 130 donkeys on the property and another 80 with registered foster homes.
Anyone wishing to make a donation to help these wonderful folk care for the donkeys, please go to the GSDS website and follow the instructions.
I was very fortunate to be able to visit the sanctuary by appointment, and photograph these lovable and gentle creatures.
