Highbush Cranberry Crop Every year there is a highbush cranberry crop prepared for the birds. The little bright red betties really stand out in the sun.
Last Of The Honey There are not many flowers still around as we are moving into late fall. This little guy has managed to find some flowers in bloom and is working on the last of the honey product for the season.
Bee And Flower The flower is a little beat up but it is very attractive to this bee. Summer is waning so it is important to pollinate while there is still sunshine.

Cattail Crop It has been a fine year for the Cattails. They are thick and growing like weeds. If you are ever lost and hungry just look for a cattail as they are editable especially the rhizomes. It is surprising the many uses of this plant, paper to life vest to biofuel not to mention lovely photos.
Bee And Flower The summer days are busy and the results are good.
Spring Growth One of the fun things about Spring is watching all the growth unfold.
DSC05170.jpg In the early spring, when the sun warms up the ground just a little this perennial will start popping out on the forest floor. While there is plenty of white, yellow and green the plant is named for the color of the roots. As you can see the Bloodroot flower is very pretty and does stand out.
DSC01976.jpg In the fall the colors just seem to intensify and this one is no exception.
DSC00969.jpg Two side by side flowers just really stood out.

_DSC7670.jpg Summer is ending as the ripening of the Highbush Cranberry denotes. The fruits which are sour and rich in vitamin C, can be eaten raw or cooked into a sauce to serve with meat. The great thing for me about this plant is I know where to find birds eating a meal.

_DSC1063_2.jpg Nothing to say except pretty!
_DSC0334.jpg You would think that anything with such a deep color of purple would be in high demand but no. It might have something to do with the thorns on the plant but it doesn't to hurt the Rose. Maybe it has something to do with the small size of the flower, but there is Baby's Breath that seems to be okay. Maybe it is just because it seems it can grow anywhere without any help. Oh well, it is pretty.
_DSC0359.jpg Have to be careful around thistle. They can look pretty.
_DSC0360.jpg A weed is a plant not valued. If this is true of thistles I made some money cutting these out of pasture. Now I don't have to walk the pastures they don't look so bad.
