SAP Center at San Jose Guest Services Ed

view map

SAP Center Guest Services Ed would not let me enter the Sharks game with my camera. The lens on my camera was less than six inches in length.

Ed of Guest Services at SAP Center in San Jose states that interchangeable lens cameras are prohibited. The sign on the doors clearly state that cameras with lenses must not exceed six inches in length. He refused to let me see the paper with the rules.

According to SAP Center's Arena FAQs for Shark games "Still cameras (film or digital) are permitted for Sharks games and other professional or amateur sporting events, as long as the lens does not exceed six inches in length."

I think Ed is wrong.

I think he was referring to the camera rules for concerts (which I found on SAP Center's Arena FAQs for concerts) which states "The use of still cameras (film or digital) for concerts, cameras that are considered professional in nature or have a detachable lense are prohibited."

4/4/2014 Update: Thanks to Chris Salazar, Guest Service Coordinator, SAP Center at San Jose for correcting this misunderstanding by one of his ushers about SAP Centers camera policy. We received complimentary tickets for another Sharks game.
