Mummies in Chauchilla Cemetery, Nazca Desert

This image is dedicated to my great friend Sabine Stetson at http://www.pbase.com/stetsa/profile who inspired me to persue this amazing opportunity and shake the rest of the civilized world... or surroundings of thereof... !
These mysterious tombs with remains of Nazca people date back to 300 BCE-800 AD times. One can see mummies perfectly preserved in dry air and exposed to environment. The Necropol has about dozen of tombs, whereas archeologists are still working on discovering more burial sites. Look at the hair of some mummies, it is absolutely amazing...

i wish one day i can have the opportunity to visit such places
filled with rich history of the past. I can't even imagine
how this would make me feel... but it is moving to say the least.

Volker, I am sure that you'll like whatever is left of waiter from the same restauranthttp://www.pbase.com/eldarrio/image/79880934 who challenged himself with bull fighting some century ago...

oh shit, you´re on my favourites list and I´m just cruising through the recent updates....good gracious...I expected fotos of some happy cows, some beauties on the beach, some macros of a medium angus steak or a can of cold beer....
What I never expected was this..........well, variety is art...
by the way: my wife, who watched the photos with me, says that the guy on the right is looking like the man who left a centric Barcelona Restaurant without paying a couple of years ago.

bye, Volker

thank you eldar, for posting this picture as the last one in your
remarkable gallery....and dedicating it to me......because it serves as a reminder that maybe one fine day - we too - will become assorted bones - and powerful photo object to someone who will get the the chance
to see them in a couple of hundred years (doubts).....no mo labels....no mo eldar ..no mo sabine and the rest of our currently living brothers and sister.... no labels in the bone yard or the butcher shop....could bore you with my
thoughts for a while, but will not....

great image, great gallery...thank you eldar.....!!!!
