Startreck Runway, Nazca Desert

The Nazca Lines are a series of geoglyphs located in the Nazca Desert, a high arid plateau that stretches 53 miles or more than 80 kilometers between the towns of Nazca and Palpa on the Pampas de Jumana in Peru. They were created by the Nazca culture between 200 BC and 700 AD. There are hundreds of individual figures, ranging in complexity from simple lines to stylized hummingbirds, spiders, monkeys, and lizards. The Nazca lines cannot be recognized as coherent figures except from the air. Since it is presumed the Nazca people could never have seen their work from this vantage point, there has been much speculation on the builders' abilities and motivations. No theory has been proven up to our days...

Some drawings could be seen from nearby hills indeed, yet question would be how, the hell, one could get to the top of those hills, LOL ?!

Very interesting. New to me.

Wikipedia took a bit of the mystique though. They said "Contrary to the claims of several commentators, the figures can be observed from the ground by standing on top of nearby foothills." Is that right? (it's got to be true, because I saw it on the internet!

I guess this is the most controvercial theory as why would aliens ever draw the monkeyhttp://www.pbase.com/eldarrio/image/79884792 ?

There is a theory, isn't there, that they were created by early alien visitors and are some kind of navigational aid to landing their spacecraft? Can it ever be disproved?

Of course it is, we had 45 min. flight over the Nazca lines at about 300-700 m altitude. Unbelievable fun and trill !
