The West Coast National Park's proximity to Cape Town, the azure waters of the Langebaan Lagoon,
spring flowers and game viewing, birdwatching (large numbers of migrant waders),
whale watching, hiking trails, mountain bike & cycling route trails and water sports
all make the West Coast National Park a most pleasant nature destination.
Nearby Langebaan village offers a wide variety of accommodation and services for visitors.
However, the showy plants of the area, usually growing on granite or limestone rocks,
especially during spring time (August-September), are what attracts most of its visitors to this fascinating park.
The wild flowers in spring 2011 were exceptional showy after many drab years, thanks for the well timed and sufficient winter rains.
