In November, we visited Umbria and Tuscany with Mike and Jan Johnson. We rented an apartment in Todi, Vicolo Etrusco. While in Todi, we visited Assisi,Spoleto,Spello and Deruta. We enjoyed the Umbrian countryside and loved the little town of Todi. In Tuscany, we stayed in a villa at the the edge of Montalcino, the town the Isabella Dusi describes in her books "Vanilla Beans and Brodo" and "Bel Vino". We visited Montepulciano, Pienza, San Quirico,Sant Antimo and Siena.
Montalcino is special with nice restaurants and nice shops. We would stay in both places again although we like Tuscany a bit better than Umbria. Below is a brief story of our stay with some pictures. For some really great photographs of our trip go to www.pbase.com/mikeojohnson
