FDNY, Manhattan - New York City Fire Museum - October 2008
On one of my recent visits to the City, I was talking to a group of firefighters and I mentioned that I was going to fire museum. They told me they didn’t even realize there was a fire museum in New York. I was amazed at the number of firefighters on the job today who are totally unaware of the New York City Fire Museum located in lower Manhattan! It occupies the former quarters of 30 Engine on Spring St. I know you’ve all heard the expression, “To know where you’re going, you’ve got to know where you’ve been…”. Well, I believe this is true in firefighting. To proceed into the future, you must relate to the past. And the FDNY Firefighting Museum does just that, bringing the history and romantic lore of firefighting to life, here in the 21st century. This gallery is posted to peak your interest in the museum. If you get the chance to visit the museum, do it! It’s a great take. The museum is located at 278 Spring Street in Manhattan, just a short distance from Ground Zero.
Ed,
Very nice pics of the museum. Great when you watch them in the slide show. I can't agree more with, "To know where you’re going, you’ve got to know where you’ve been…" Great quote, especially for firefighters.
