Washington VT - Live Burn Exercise - August 21, 2011
On Sunday August 21st, members of the Washington, Williamstown, Barra Town, Chelsea, Tri Village Corinth fire departments took part in a live burn exercise on an aquired structure. Members drilled on placing interior attack lines as well as interior truck operations such as pulling ceilings and overhaul practices. About 40 members attended the drill. In some of the photos, you can see the building with heavy fire (on the left) had asphalt shingles, also known as "gasoline shingles". It took 10 minutes for that building to collapse. The metal roof, which is common to dwellings in the northern New England states, collapsed in about 45 minutes.
