FDNY, Coop City - 10-77 2 Alarm High rise fire, 100 South Place at Carver Loop - February 18, 2009
On February 18, 2009 at 8:45 AM, just before the changing of the tour, a fire was reported at 100 South Place at Carver Loop, Coop City. The fire was reported to be on the 26th floor of a 33 story building. First due E-66 and L-61 had a good fire condition in the apartment, and heavy smoke conditions above. The officer and the irons man from L-51, along with a member of The squad, dragged an unconscious male to the stairwell. Members of Squad 61 and Rescue 3 were ordered to bring their 'fire blanket' to the floor above the fire. Squad 61 did deploy the blanket over a window on the fire floor. This is supposedly the first job where the blanket was used proactively due to a moderate wind condition.
