Yesterday, Friday, was Saint Louis Zoo Parents Picnic 2018. It is an evening event after normal hours to celebrate the animal adoption program, which helps benefit the care of a favorite animal of our choice. This year our pick was the Black Rhinoceros.

It happened to correspond with the arrival of the remnants of Hurricane Gorden as it slammed into a weather front moving in from the North. The drive in to the Zoo was treacherous, and the rains persistent.

We spent what time we could indoors, in the Childrens' Zoo and the Animal Veterinary Center and hospital. When we finally got to the Black Rhinoceros habitat, the Rhinos were back in their private areas.

My camera of the day was a Pentax K10 D with 18-55 mm f:4.5 lens.
All images were hand held under available light.
The Tree Kangaroo and Echidna live in near darkness, and I had the ASA pushed up to 1600.
