Fujica AX-3 and Fall Color

This camera was another flea market find.
I paid $9.00 for it, including the lens.
Cash value on film cameras is about bottoming out.

The Fujica AX-3 is a Single Lens Reflex camera for 35 mm film, with all the little features expected of a manual focus body. DOF preview, electronic self timer, removable back, connections on the bottom for motor drive hook up. It even has a little switch on the back to black out the rear viewfinder window, to shut out extraneous light in studio setups. The lens mount is three-lug bayonet in a size unique for Fujica.
The lens on this example turned out to be fine, but camera was not fully functional. I had to replace most of the light seal foam, and the foam mirror bumper. (Cloth) shutter curtains were "capping" at high speeds. I managed to fix that by locating the electrical release solenoids and doing a little cleaning on sticky mechanisms. The shutter is completely electronic in timing, but the metering, although responsive, turned out to be inaccurate and inconsistent across the range of EV values. I could not easily locate any adjustment, and decided it was not worth too much more effort, since everything could still be controlled "manually" with the aid of a hand held auxiliary meter.

Yesterday was a dark and rainy day, and this seemed to spur the local foliage into accelerated color change. Today dawned bright and clear, so I loaded the camera with a roll of Fuji 200 and went out for a little test.
All shots are from within 2 miles of home.
