I acquired this Fujica SLR recently for $10.00 at a camera show, it was a "bargain box" item.
The rewind knob was missing. Once I got the camera open (there was film in there, but it was ripped out of the casette, so ruined when I opened the back), I was able to check it out... everything seemed to function well, the meter was accurate, it just needed a knob for the rewind, a new mirror bumper, and new light seals.
The Fujica STX-1 dates to about 1980, and it is a nice example of the type of quality built Japanese SLR 35mm cameras representative of that age. Well-featured, it has such niceties as DOF preview, self timer, and bayonet lens mount system. Shutter speeds run from 1/2 second to 1/700. Exposure is match-needle metering, much like a Pentax K1000, but seems to be scene-averaging rather than center-weighted.
Once I had it cleaned and repaired, I found it begging for a film test. I loaded it with Fuji (seemed appropriate) ASA 200 print film and took it for a spin.
First stop was Valley Park, Missouri, an old Railroad town (two major rails run through there) on the Meramec River.
Second stop was one of my usual favorites, the Transportation Museum of St. Louis County.
Camera and lens seemed to perform quite well.
