The Praktica MTL 3 was a solid piece of work from Dresden, marketed from 1978 until 1984 in good numbers. It was a mix of old technologies and interesting innovation. The shutter is a durable vertical running metal blade assembly. Finder is excellent, incorporating multiple focusing tools. Metering is incorporated into the mirror. Well located button on front turns on the meter while stopping down the lens for DOF preview. Knobby body covering allows a sure grip. Lens mount is the tried and true 42 mm screwmount. Camera overall has a nice feel and good manners in the field.
I loaded it with asa 200 film and started a set celebrating the Missouri summer, exposed half the roll on Sunday.
But today the outdoor conditions were just too much. In fact, current temperature is 103 in the sun.
So I stayed indoors and finished off the roll in the studio with still lifes. I got out tripod and number 80A blue filter, and did quick setups under a pair of desk lamps with soft white 60 watt bulbs.
