Argus CC Meramec and Big Rivers

The Model CC was one of the Argus company's last design innovations before camera production was suspended for WWII military contracts.
This camera was made 1940 - 1942. Lens is uncoated, but effective. The camera features a clip on selenium cell exposure meter on the top (the meter is missing on this example, but I rather like the look of the camera without it); leaf shutter with T, B, and speeds 25 to 150; and a focusing lens mount that takes you from infinity all the way to 15 inches.

The Argus A3 is essentially the same camera, except for the top section, with an "extinction" type graduated density strip rather than selenium cell meter.

These two cameras share a flaw. Many if not most tend to leak light through the circular gap between the chromed lens barrel and the focusing control ring. The black rubber O ring in images below are an attempt I made at blocking the light leak. I had limited success, and some image frames still show evidence of the leak.

I loaded a roll of Kodak Gold 200 for my field tests. Locations are Minnie Ha Ha Park on the Meramec in Sunset Hills, and Byrnesmill City Park on Big River.
Note how low the Meramec River is in its bed. Scarce rain this season has probably contributed to the weird Fall season we have been having, some trees losing their foliage early and others hanging on or finally beginning to turn.
Camera was hand held, and conditions were a bit windy.
