The C44R was kind of the "Last Hurrah" design from Argus for American made high quality cameras.
This "flat top" example (second of two major variants) has serial number 1730131244.
It was probably made in the first quarter of 1960.
When C44R production halted, all that was left to come from the old Argus company was a continuation of the venerable C3 design, and a number of rebadged imports made abroad, until the doors were sealed in 1966 or 1967.

Today the temperature soared into the high 60's under mostly sunny skies, pretty impressive here for the end of January.
I loaded the C44R with a roll of Walgreens asa 200 and packed a small bag along with a 50mm Cintagon lens (USA) and a 100mm Cintagon (Steinheil Germany).
I think the 50mm lens did quite well, it is a clean one.
The images from the 100mm were a little softer, maybe due to some damage in the coating of the rear element glass.

My destination was Laumeier Sculpture Park, a St. Louis County Park in the city of Sunset Hills.
With the leaves down, I found some trails I had never walked before, leading to areas and sculptural installations I had never
seen before.
