Argust Day was created by Argus Collectors Group members as a day for Argus camera lovers
everywhere to use Argus cameras to capture images from their daily life simultaneously,
wherever they happened to be that day.
August 1, 2001, was Argust 1st.
August 2, 2002, was Argust 2nd.
And so on.
Thus, this year Argust 11th will be August 11, 2011.
Each year, we all submit the best of our results, and they
are compiled on a webpage.

This Argust 11, I loaded two cameras with ASA 200 print film. First was a Model 21 Markfinder from the late 1940s, one that I had customized with new front covering of green velour material. The other was an early 1950s Model C4, one that I had modified by adding strap lugs to the upper corners.
I decided to explore a portion of the "Mother Road," old Route 66, to see what remains.
My start was at the city of Eureka and I traced the old route west about 30 miles, out to the city of St. Clair.
Along the way in Gray Summit, I found the "remnants" of Diamonds. In an earlier age, they claimed to have the world's largest "roadside restaurant." Nothing left of it now but a large sign in the midst of a commuter parking area.
