I went out using classic Argus film cameras, looking for Christmas spirit and trying to catch some images for the annual Argus Collectors Group Holiday Photo Contest.

When I got to the end of the roll of Kodak in the C4 and rewound, something did not feel right. I opened the camera back to the horror of finding the roll had shredded and broken off raggedly, most of the film still on the take up spool and exposed to full daylight. But the film was pretty tightly rolled on the spool, so I closed it up, manually transferred what I had to an empty film cassette in my dark changing bag, and sent it to the lab hoping for some miracle. Amazingly, about the first half of the roll was still salvageable!

For back up the next day, when that damaged roll was off for processing at Creve Coeur Camera, I loaded a roll of Fuji 200 into an Argus STL-1000 SLR and retraced my steps with a second photo shoot of many of the same subjects.
