This castle is situated in Bazel, along the Schelde and not far from Antwerpen.
In Bazel(Bar-sele "bar=waste" and "sele=settlement") we find other historical buildings and fine renovated houses.
The history of the castle goes back to 900 A.C. The seigniory was created by the count of Flanders.
"Of course" during a few centuries the castle was attacked,conquered and destructed.But again and again it was reconstructed.The actual tower dates from the 16 th.century.
During the conflict between Spain and The Netherlands the castle was also damaged.Alexander Farnese played a role in the conflict.
In 1811 the castle got the actual shape,inspired by Windsor Castle.
The last owner was the family Vilain XIIII
