This project was to complete 5 pieces, measuring 18" x18", that were connected either visually or physically. The criteria also included image transfer and frotage techniques, applying wax in the final stages to give a transparent effect to the paper. The end result would then be visible from both sides.

With this project I returned to some of the themes that I was working on last semester with my video and book. I used some of the same images and incorporated new images and text. In these pieces I am specifically discussing events and circumstances that strongly shaped my early childhood, not just specifically gender. My intent was to use metonymy and synecdoche to create references to my father, mother, family structure, gender development, and religious upbringing. In this way I felt I could present a personal narrative that still allows for individual interpretation by the viewer. While I feel the results are successful, I am still struggling with synecdoche and will continue to work with this in future pieces.
