Present Perfect, is a collaborative effort between two artists, Analisa Goodin and eddie gesso, and three temporal delineations: present, past, and future. It is an abstract exploration into the translation of meaning through time, failures in communication, and slippages in the reception of language. As a grammatical term, present perfect illustrates a complex relationship between time and desire—it pushes the temporal boundaries of present, past, and future into each other. In this, we make visual and intellectual links between art historical and contemporary influences; reinterpreting, re-contextualizing, and rhyming with artists and thinkers who engage with temporality through a series of fluctuations, variables, and states of fluidity.

We have placed ourselves and our show in dialogue with, but not limited to the following artists and thinkers: Roland Barthes, Sophie Calle, Eva Hesse, Roni Horn, Harmony Hammond, Cornelia Parker, Peggy Phelan, Jacques Ranciere, Rosenclaire, Sappho, and Felix Gonzalez-Torres.
