This is a site-responsive installation of paintings that fuse high modernism with contemporary issue of trans embodiment. Each work is installed 1 inch from the floor creating a tension with the ground drawing the viewers attention to their own physical relationship to both the work and the architecture. Each painting, vertical in orientation, and evokes a bodily presence yet operates within a strictly formal vocabulary of abstract forms and color field painting. These works evoke a temporal space, celebrate and reveal their paintingness, and objectness. These works spans different disciplines and schools of thought: non-representational with narrative painting, high modernism painting with minimal sculpture, and trans and queer theory with reductive visual language.'Between Bodies' evolves out of my own love of formal painting and my desire to create non-representational work that contains personal narrative.
