I have found three over the past few years, two this last month in my barn. The biggest was the last one, it was just about 3 feet long but skinny and only got a little irritated because I was handling it tons trying to get some good pics of it.

Found this snake on my basement floor on evening 2/28/15. It was a very small one - 4-5 inches. We are baffled as to how this hatchling wound up on floor this time of year with a lot of snow still on the ground and cold winter temperature. I sure don't want to find another one. It seemed sluggish, but still tried to bite. Unsettling, to say the least.

We also found one near Muskegon, mi out behind my friends house and he has been messing around back there for years and this was the first time he said he has ever seen one back there before. They are very aggressive, he had welding gloves on and he picked it up and it tried to bite him over n over again. When he dropped it his dog was trying to play with it and it bite her over and over until she quit messing with it... it must hurt when it bites because she cried every time it bite her!

Is it possible that these can be brown? I had a snake attack my cat after somehow getting into my livingroom. It had marking similar to the milk snake, but it is light tan, with black outlined brown spots. It was very aggressive and acted like a rattlesnake. But it doesn't seem to be a Massasuaga.
This is in northern Michigan in January. Guess it decided to come out for a mid hibernation snack.
The snake is about 2 feet long.

Eastern Milksnakes are not poisonous, but are very aggressive. A friend found a baby one in his basement in August. I found a baby one just crawling into my garage a couple hours later, and we are 3 miles apart, so that may be hatching time in the Thumb. They seem to be cranky all the time and will strike at anything, repeatedly. They don't seem to shy away just because we're big or frightening to them. The two that we came across both seemed like they were looking for a fight. lol

My wife found a small one of these in our house, and when I tried to pick it up I grabbed it to far behind the head and it managed to bite me. It drew blood which surprised me and it stung a bit, but it was more of a surprise then any thing else. I am refering to a milk snake. This happened on July 30th. 2009
