A straight shot of a dewy spider web is fairly simple and common. My web gallery - http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/spiderweb - contains a sampling.
This morning I came across this web where it was possible to shoot straight through the web toward the rising sun. After making several of the common straight shots, I tried this one. The web is intentionally thrown out of focus to give a slightly more abstract look.
The sun provided the orange glow and the out of focus effect turned the distinct dew drops into interlocking circles. When you go out to the same locale every day for nearly four years, it's tough to keep finding new subjects and ideas.
For the "judges" among you who want everything in sharp focus, here's a version for you - http://www.pbase.com/image/87686426 - including "starbursts" from the refracted sunlight in the larger drops. We aim to please.
