A white dahlia. A fun subject to shoot while trying to capture detail in the all white petals.
Back to my roots after a month of western national park landscape photo icons - floral landscapes in a macro-sense. My 105mm macro lens - a personal favorite - went almost unused since leaving in mid-September.
Whereas landscape photography is almost completely dependent on getting the "right" light, these beauties can be shot almost any time (with a little care and a diffuser). Spent many frustrating days in places like the Tetons, Yellowstone, Yosemite and the Grand Canyon with brilliant blue skies and blazing sunlight - mid-day conditions which aren't conducive to great landscape images (in general). Frustrating when you know that you're there for just a day or two and don't have the option of returning for the best light.
