9/23/07 - Tetons at Sunset

I'm disappointed with myself for failing to capture what I saw. This was one of the most beautiful awe inspiring scenes I've ever seen. The sun streaming through the misty clouds in the canyon at the lower left was pure magic. I blew it!
The extreme tonal range was more than I could deal with even using a 3-stop grad ND filter and checking the results with the histogram while shooting. The detail is there but the magical lighting and the tonal gradation of the clouds is missing. Darn.

... I agree with Sandi ... an excellent photo even if it wasn't what you wanted it to be ... who's complaining???

Still very impressive Ed, but I know what you mean. Nature gives us some real challenges. Dramatic mountain top all the same! V
