5/9/07 - A Vernal Falls

A vernal falls on the side of a rainy, misty mountain. Near the smaller 1-lane bridge above the Great Smokies Tremont Institute. Wear your Gore-Tex boots at a time/place like this. Check out the moss.
2nd PAD today. Still trying to catch up from a week in the Smokies with no internet. I've finally gotten that period up to date, but am still four days behind. S0, it looks like four more days of double PADs & I'll be all caught up??
I tossed a number of Nik Color Efex filters at this image as an experiment. I've never used this sort of a "software assistant" before. I used only nik "traditional" filters (those which are available and used regularly by film phtographers - if they could stack the 6 that I used here on the end of their lens at the same time). Nothing that I couldn't have accomplished in Capture NX or Picture Window Pro, but probably more convenient (once you know what you're doing). I was trying to make the image more 3-D by brightening the center and darkening the outside - including burning a narrow slightly dark edge all around the image. The brightening and attendant increased saturation went a bit too far but we'll go with it for now since it's just an experiment. Here's the original - http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/image/78637403 - and the winner is probably somewhere in between these two.
Was it dark & dreary? - note the 8 second exposure time.
