Month #27 - Retrospective of Daily Photos posted from 5/04 to 12/09 (most viewers for the month)

The viewer's choice for the month, posted yesterday, was an image I liked. However, I had a different personal choice which stems from my being a "composition nut" (and to the judges among us, I know the horizon is in the center. So what?). Here's what I wrote about this image in 7/06 -

7/9/06 - It's the Light, Stupid
I love this quote. Come back an hour later when the sun has risen just a bit and this is an entirely different (and weaker) image.
I was at the Manassas Battlefield shortly after sunrise. I had just taken a bunch of shots of Stonewall Jackson silhouetted against the rising sun - OK but ho-hum. I turned 180 degrees and saw this scene bathed in the warm golden glow of the early morning sun - you had to be there. As I walked around trying for different angles and perspectives I was reminded of this quote - It's the light, stupid.
I did the best that I could to get something in the foreground by using the tall grass. A classic civil war split rail fence would work nice right about here.
The structure is the Henry House which is close to the visitor's center (on Henry Hill, what else?). The Bull Run Mountains are in the distance to the west.

Excellent shot. You're right. That golden wheat would be a mousy brown in a few minutes. Great job. Vote.
