Circular polarizer to cut the harsh glare from the reflection on the top left rock; neutral density filter to get the long shutter speed that I wanted in order to turn the water soft; f/25 for DOF and slow shutter speed.
Making this shot was the easy part. Getting to it was a challenge. A short distance off Skyline Drive at about mile 1.5. A steep hillside with lots of loose rocks, leaves, and undergrowth - typical but not too bad. The challenge was in the last 10 feet - three boulders about 4 feet around and surrounded with wild roses that grew at the base of the boulders up into the trees about 10 feet high. Ouch!!! Getting down off the boulders turned out to be harder than getting up because the roses had me pretty much entangled as a result of climbing through them. It would been embarrassing to have had to call for help and get cut free.
